Heat Transfer
Thermal/Infra-Red radiation is the transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves.
All bodies, human and animals alike, emit and absorb thermal radiation. The hotter the body, the more Infra-Red radiation it emits (in a given time).
Dark, Matt surfaces are good absorbers and emitters of radiation, however, Light and Shiny surfaces are poor absorbers and poor emitters of radiation, thus meaning that they are good reflectors of Infra-Red radiation.
