The Particle Model of Motion in Gases
- The three states of matter are solids, liquids, and gases
- Solids - strong forces of attraction, held together in regular patterns, not much energy (only vibrate)
- Liquids - weaker forces, close together and can move, some energy
- Gas - no forces of attraction, more energy so they are free to move, random directions and speeds
- In a sealed container, the outward gas pressure is equal to the total force exerted by all the particles
