scalars and vectors:

scalar quantaties have a size (or magnitude) only.

e.g. the speed of the car was 60 km/h

vector quantaties have both size and direction.

e.g. the boat sailed 30km north

scalar:                        vector:

speed                        velocity

distance                    displacement

time                           weight

mass                         force

                                 acceleration

                                 momentum

distance,speed and time:

.distance is measured in metres (m)

.speed is measured in metres per second (m/s)

.time is measured in seconds (s)

distance= speed x time
