Phylogeny
Phylogeny is the evolutionary relationship between organisms. The study of the history of groups of organisms is called phylogentics.
Phylogentic trees can be used to represent the evolutionary relatioships between organisms.
Evidence for Evolutionary Relationships
- Antibody-antigen interactions - species produce specific antibodies to recognise foreign proteins. An organism's antibodies can be isolated and mixed with another organism's proteins to see how many antigen-antibody complexes are formed. The more complexes that form, the more closely related the two organisms are.
