Personal Life Persepctive on Families.

The personal life perspective argues that functionalists, marxists and feminists suffer from weaknesses, for example, they believe that the traditional nuclear family are dominant and they ignore the increased diversity within families, such as lone-parent families and symmetrical families. Also, they are structural theories so they assume that members within the family are passive puppets manipulated by society to perform certain functions.

They are influenced by interprevist ideas, such as they argue in order for us to understand families, we must start from the point of view of individuals and the meanings they give to relationships.
