Change in relationship over time
Number of MPs in Parl grew; 302 (1512), 401 (1559) and 462 (1586), led to need to manage parl bus more
• 1563 and 66 raise issue of marriage and succession (unimaginable in Henry VIII's reign), forced to allow this in 66 to ensure discussion of grant taxation
• 1587 Eliza imprisons 2 Puritan MPs, Wentworth and Cope, for attempts to change rel settlement, sign that this required but also showed monarch was still more pwrful
• Henry VII and VII Parliment co-operated
• Mary faced brief rebellion, still able to reverse supremacy
• Eliza tried to restrict parl freedom of speech 66 and 76 due to high views of royal prerogative and reducing parl pwrs
• No parl refused grant of taxation, th tried to limit amoiun 04 and 23, tied it to discussion of concerns 66
• Power increased but never overpowered that of monarch
