a circuit in which every component is connected separately to the positive and negative ends of the battery
parallel circuits are more useful than series circuits because branches/components can be turned off separately whereas in series circuits turning off a branch turns off the whole circuit
in parallel circuits all components have the same pd as the power source.
each branch has the same pd as the power supply
the pd is the same across all components connected in parallel
in parallel circuits the total current around the circuit is equal to the total of all the currents through the separate branches
