P3- Particle Model of Matter
Particles of a substance in Each State are the Same EXCEPT the Arrangements + Energy.
Solids:
Force- Strong Force of Attraction
Arrangement- Fixed, Regular
Motion- Vibrate in their Fixed Position
Hotter= More Vibration
Liquids:
Force- Weak Force of Attraction
Arrangement- Close BUT can Move Past each other+ Irregular
Motion- More Energy than Solid, Random Direction at Low Speed
Hotter= Faster Movement
Gases:
Force- No Force of Attraction
Arrangements- More Energy than solids + Liquids, Free to move
Motion- Random Direction + Speed
Hotter= Faster Movement
Colliding Particles
GAS particles= Free to Move and when they Collide= Apply Pressure.
So in a Sealed Container, the Outward Gas Pressure is the Total Force Applied by All particles within the container Walls.
Temperature Increase
