Stopping Distance = Thinking Distance + Braking Distance

The thinking distance is the distance the car travels betwen when the driver sees or hears something and the moment the driver actually resonds by applying the brakes.

The braking distance is the ditance between the driver applying the brakes and the car stopping.

Thinking distance depends on the speed the car is travelling and the reaction time of the driver. The main factor that will affect thinking distance is the speed of the car. If the car is travelling faster it
