P1 - The Geology Bit

Rocks show changes in the Earth through their erosion and formation.The oldest rocks date back to roughly 4 thousand million years ago, which is how scientists define how long the Earth has been around.

The Rock Cycle

Eroded particles -> Sediment -> Sedimentary rocks -> descend and are crushed OR ascend to surface -> worn down by elements

The rock cycle is affected when rocks are crushed under plate boundaries.

Wegner's Theory said that the Earth was one huge continent, which has since drifted apart. This was supported by the fact that fossils were found on opposite continents, and that coastlines matched each other. He observed similarities in rock layers and fossils found in South America and Africa.
