Assumption 1 - Behaviour is influenced by the three parts of the mind

  • The tripartite personality is influenced by innate biological factors
  • The Id is present at birth and demands immediate satisfaction
  • The ego comes around the age of 3-6 years and seeks to balance the demands of the id to a more socially accepted way
  • The superego gives the child a sense of right and wrong
