What Happens?

A man stuck at the top of one of the twin towers tells his story of the horrific events that happened that day. The author once said he wanted to give the people stuck in the tower a voice. The first stanza gives the distressing image of a man waving a white shirt at the top of the tower when everyone knows that rescue is impossible for him.

Structure

  • The lines vary in length with regular use of enjambement as the trader speaks to his absent loved one and descirbes his terrifying situation
  • The first 5 stanzas have the 2nd and 4th lines rhyming where the words are always action verbs in the present tense (ing)
