-USA and USSR had strong opposite views about government.

-The USA's government system was democratic. This allowed freedom of speech, different wages and there were huge differences between the rich and the poor.

-The USSR's government was communist and had a dictator. The state was in charge of everything and the people had little freedom of speech and there were lower standards of living.

- In February 1945, the Big Three (Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt) met at Yalta to discuss what would happen to Germany once the war had ended. It was agreed that Germany would be split into four zones and Berlin, which was well within the Soviet Zone, would be split into four as well.
