- Selling alcohol became a big buisness and gansters operating from big cities controlled much of the trade.

- They supplied the booze, set up speakeasies and set up ' protection rackets ' thretening to damage property unless they paid the gang money to protect it.

- The most famous gangster was Al Capone

- He gained control of Chicago by bribing local officials, the police and politicians.

- He didn't fear arrest and operated openly.

- He employed up to 1000 men in a sort…
