Hierachy - where each level has responsibility for, and authority for the levels below.

Structures Tall and Flat

Tall structures have a long chin of command - affects communication and decision making.

Flat structure - few levels of hierachy meaning workers have more responisbility and freedom
But...... managers may get overwhelmed - no.of people reporting to them.

Spans of control

Wide Span of Control - If span of control too broad managers can find it hard to manage workforce effectively.
