Context:
- Initially China encouraged people to have children, as they thought:
~ Make them powerful
~ Larger work force
- This pro-natalist was approached till early 1970s
- Realised population would become unsustainable, population nearly doubled
'Later, longer, fewer':
~ Later marriages, longer gaps between having children, fewer children
~ Encouraged to limit to having 2 children
~ Men had to wait till 25 and women…
