George and Lennie

The American Dream- The dream George and Lennie share keep them motivated to find work and own their own patch of land. Frequently throughout the book Lennie asks George to tell him about the dream. This dream is significant in the book as it shows how hard life is after the Great Depression to live independantly and that the dream is purely and dream and never achieved.

Womens position of marriage- Curleys wife is shown as unwanted by her husband suggesting there was no reason why Curley married
