WHAT HAPPENS

- Characters in the Exodus = Messenger's Speech, Chorus, Oedipus, Creon, Antigone and Ismene

- Greeks didn't like death to be depicted on stage, body would typically be wheeled out afterwards on ekkyklema instead so Messenger's Speech provides details on Jocasta's suicide and Oedipus blinding himself. - Audience were encouraged to use their imagination and allows the playwright to express himself however he wants with particularly brutal and graphic images. 

- Chorus are fascinated but also horrified and devestated. 

- Oedipus talks of Apollo's role in his sufferings but also his own - "the hand that struck the eyes were mine."

- Says famous "I am Oedipus" line alike to the Prologue but in defeat and anguish so contrasts with previou line.

- Oedipus laments over his children using quite blunt and ghastly language. 

- The Chorus back away as he encourages them to come closer. 

- Chorus Leader appears to suggest he already sees Creon as the leader. 

- Creon criticises the guards for allowing Oedipus to come out so openly in public.

- Creon also wants to consult the
