Roles of Men and Women

Teaching: "It is not good for a man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him"

Belief: God created men and women to be together. Women have a lesser role as mans helper.

Action: Women aren't allowed to be as high up in church as men and in society generally don't get as high up.

Teaching: "There is neither Greek nor Jew, slave nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus"

Belief: All people are equal in the eyes of Jesus no matter what their gender or race. 

Action: People disagree with inequality against women (sexism) as well as other forms of discrimination .

Teaching: "Wives...be submissive to your husband"

Belief: This quote from the Old Testament implies that women should do as their husbands tell them.

Action: Husbands will expect their wives to obey.

Teaching: "Better to dwell in a corner of housestop than in a house shared with a contentious woman"

Belief: Men would rather be almost anywhere than with a nagging wife.

Action: Women should think twice before they nag and complain about every little thing.

Homosexuality

Teaching: "You shall not lie with another male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination"

Belief: You cannot have the same kind of sexual relationship with a man as one does with a woman.

Action: Homosexuality is deemed wrong

Teaching: If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood-guiltiness is upon them
