How has climate changed since the start of the Quaternary period?
What is the Quaternary Period?
The earth is believed to be 4.55 billion years old.
However the Quaternary period stretches from 2.6 million years ago to now.
It is often called an ice age as there is a presence of a permanent ice sheet on Antarctica.
There have been Glacial periods in the Quaternary period. These are historic cold periods associated with the build up of snow and ice and the growth of ice sheets.
