Lattice enthalpy- energy needed to convert one mole of gaseous ions into one mole of ionic solid.

enthalpy of hydration- enthalpy change when one mole of gaseous ions is hydrated to produce a solution of 1moldm-3 wrt to that ion.

Enthalpy of solvation used when water is not used to hydrate the ions.

Enthalpy of solutions= enthalpy of hydration of cation + enthalpy of hydrtion of anion - lattice enthalpy (as its broken up not formed)

KA= X2 / initial conc of acid

strong acid- use inital conc of acid and eqution PH=-log(H+)

weak acid must us kA equation... KA= X2/inital conc of acid X=H+ so use PH=-log(H+)

For a Strong
