Nutrients = substances that perform different functions in the body

Non Starch Polysaccharides = part of the food which isn't digested by our body 

5 Groups of Nutrients:

  • Protein
  • Carbohydrate
  • Fats
  • Vitamins
  • Minerals

Carbohydrates - body energy - sugar, honey, jam,potatoes, pasta, rice

Protein - Growth, Repair, secondary source of energy - Meat, Fish, Dairy, lentils, soya, nuts

Fat - Protection, Insulation, Some energy - Cheese, oily Fish, meat

Vitamin A (carotene) - Helps
