Nutrition is the substances taken in by a plant or animal for use in metabolism. 

A Balanced Diet is a diet which provides all the nutrients required for health in appropriate proportions. 

Good nutrition will:

  • provide better health
  • ensure a stronger immune system
  • mean that you become ill less often
  • help you learn more effectively
  • make you stronger
  • make you more productive.

The nutrients in a balanced diet must consist of 7 things:

  • Carbohydrates - Main source of energy.
  • Proteins - Growth & Repair of muscle and other body tissues
