Nuclear reactor is used produce heat in a nuclear power station. It works by the priniciple of chain reaction. There are four parts in a nuclear reactor:

  • Fuel rod
  • Moderator
  • Control rods
  • Concrete Chamber

FUEL ROD is made up of Uranium-235. When a slow neutron hits these rods, then the Uranium-235 converts to the unstable Uranium-236 which then fragments to two daughter nuclei of Krypton and Barium, three neutons, gamma radiation and lots of heat. Uranium rods are arranged in a nuclear reactor in such a way that chain reaction can take place.
