Nuclear Reactions

all RADIATION from an atom is emitted from the NUCLEUS.

  • in ALPHA and BETA ATOM DECAY: the number of protons in a nucleus changes.
  • in Alpha decay, number of neutrons and protons change, but with beta, the neutrons stay the same and only the protons change.
  • Atoms are uncharged. They have an equal amount of protons (+ charge) and electrons (- charge)
