Notting Hill

Representation: Portrayal of peple, cultures events in the media and film. Representations aren't always accurate/correct and are constructed by producers to suit a specific purpose.

The most commonly used repressentations in the media are stereotypes. Stereotypes are universally understood and recognised, and are often used for comic purposes.

Britishness: refers specifically to British culture, society, values and people.

In films - such as Notting Hill - Britain is often repressented as what is known as 'Postcard Britian'.

This means that the depiction is positive and usually includes:

  • Picturesque locations
  • Upper/middle
