Treaty of Versailles

The Treaty of Versailles was basically a peace agreement that the Weimar Government was forced to sign by the winning powers in 1919.

Germany expected the treaty to be fair because:

1) They had already became bankrupt after the war, so many people were starving.

2) Germany presumed the winning powers would like their new democratic government because     it was just like what the allies had.

3) The president of America, Woodrow Wilson, stated that the treaty should allow Germany to recover.
