Describe the index of multiple deprivation
The Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) bundles together 7 different types of problems faced by some people in urban areas. E.g. low income, unemployment, poor GCSE grades, low environmental quality. The government's way of seeing which areas are more deprived than other areas, and in particular, what they are deprived of.

Income, unemployment and education are all linked factors. They show how good the education system in that area is, whether the schools have enough money, if people are attending school.
