Resting Potential
Intrinsic proteins on the plasma membrane of the axon contain sodium-potassium pumps and individual channels.
A resting potential of 65MV outside the axon is created when 3 sodium ions are actively transported out of the axon, as 2 potassium ions are transported in.
This creates a higher charge outside the axon.
