German labour front (DAF)
Hitler banned trade unions because they supported the SPD or KPD and tried to increase workers' wages
The old trade unions were replaced with a Nazi organization DAF, led by Dr Robert Ley. It was supposed to protect workers rights
- Workers were not allowed to go on strike in Nazi Germany
- They had to get DAF's permission to change the type of job they did
- they often had to work longer hours
- Wage rates per hour were kept down to make worker affordable
