The nature and Variety of Living Organisms

Living organisms fall into the following categories.

Animals:

  • multicellular organisms
  • store cabohydrates as glycogen
  • NO cell walls, chloroplast (do NOT photosynthesize)
  • have nervous coordination (mostly)
  • able to move

Plants

  • All plants are multicellular
  • Contain chloroplasts and carry out photosynthesis
  • Have cellulose cell walls
  • store carbohydrates as starch or sucrose

Fungi: 

  • some are unicellular
  • organised into  mycelium- made from hyphae.
  • do NOT
