The Progress and Development of Native American Rights

Native Americans had inhabitated America (North) for thousands of years before the white man. In 1492 Columbus (first man to discover America) thought to have landed in India instead and so named Native Americans the 'Indians'. There were 86 indepedent tribes. Largest population were known to be settled on the Great Plains. These tribes were often Nomadic meaning they followed buffalo herds that offered them means of life. In the first 19th century, the white man left the Native Americans alone however it was threatened whent the question of Westward Expansion came into play.

Americans believed in Manifest Destiny where it was God's aim for white settlers to take land and expand. So, in 1830 the Indian Removal Act began where gradually tribes were moved from Albama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi…
