- The primacy-recency effect supports the MSM because we remember words at the start of a list as we have had time to rehearse the and they have moved to LTM. We remember words at the end of the list because they are still in STM. words in the middle of the list are forgotten as we have not had time to rehearse them and they have been pushed out of STM due to its limited capacity. This supports MSM as it suggests that we have separate stores for memory.
- There are several cases of patients who have suffered brain damage to their hippocampus and have memory deficits e.g. clive wearing. Thier memory loss tends to be selective i.e. their STM may be intact but their LTM is lost. This again supports the idea of separate stores of different types of…
