The Nucleus:

  • Its in the middle of the atom
  • Contains protons and electrons
  • Has a positive charge because of the protons
  • Almost the whole mass of the atom is concentrated in the nucleus
  • Tiny compared to the rest of the atom

The Electrons:

  • Move around the nucleus in energy levels called shells
  • Negitavely charged
  • Tiny, but cover a lot of space
  • The size of their orbit depends on how big the atom is
  • Have virtually no mass
