More History Of Bobbleheads

On the first part of this article we started by going back to the origins of custom bobbleheads and their entry into pop culture via the large sports leagues of the 1960s, with especial focus on professional baseball. We described the material, use and design characteristics of bobbleheads of the time, as well as a quick view at their current market dynamics.

In this article we make a parenthesis to discuss a teaser that we mentioned at the end of part 1. The record breaking 17,000 USD sports bobblehead, the most expensive ever sold. We may have some space and time left to continue describing bobbleheads created during that period.

The story has more to it than just the money paid for this figure. The bobblehead was found by sheer luck by a couple from the United States who had just purchased a new home in the state of Washington. They found it as they were exploring the rooms in their new property somewhere hidden among other things in the attic. It was an oversized model painted to the colors of the Washington Redskins and was never really a commercial item, but more a sort of halo model designed to be placed at retail stores that carried
