There were many women who fought for the right to vote. There were the Suffragettes and the Suffragists both fighting for the same right with different methods:
The Suffragists - These were members of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies (NUWSS). There were small local societies that campaigned for Women's suffrage - to little effect. It took the creation of the NUWSS to give these societies one voice and a national impact.
