Consistency- Moscovici (1969)

aim: To see whether a consistent minority could influence a majority to give the incorrect answer in a color perception task.

method: a sample of 172 female participants were placed into groups of 6. Each group was shown 36 slides of varying shades of blue and had to state out loud the colour of each slide. Two confederates were in each group.  In the experimental condition, the confederates said all the slides were green. In the control condition, the confederates said 24 slides were green and 12 were blue.

findings: Moscovici found that in the consistent condition, the real participants agreed on 8.2% of the trials whereas on the inconsistent condition, perticipants agreed…
