Optical Microscope
- Light microscope allows you to see the position of the cell membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus in eukaryotic cells. Small organelles are not seen clearly.
- Resolution of 200nm, good to see cells not small details of organelles.
Magnification is how much bigger a sample is under a microscope than in real life.
- M = objective lens x eyepiece lens
Resolution is ability to distinguish between 2 points of an image e.g. the amount of detail it can be limited by the wavelength of radiation used to view the sample.
