Stratergies for memory improvement
- Organizaing infomation into meaningful chuncks increases the capacity of the STM.
- Information of a topci should be organized into hierachies (groups). Links can then be seen between the topics, meaning that the the meaningfulness of the information is increased and is therefore easier to remember.
Encoding specificity principle
- States that: when new memories are acquired they are encoded by linking it to the context in which they were made.
- Forgetting occurs when accurate retrical cues are not avalible.
