Memory concerns the information we can recall from our past. This can refer to information that is from only a few seconds ago or for an event that has occurred many years previous.

Encoding- how information is processed so it can be held in memory

Storage- holding information in the memory system until it is needed

Retrieval- accessing the stored information so that it can be used

Short term memory

Capacity- Miller (1956) used digit span measures to show a limited capacity which is between 5 and 9 chunks of information…
