Meiosis I
Interphase:
- Organelles replicated within cell
- More ATP produced
- DNA replicates
Prophase 1:
- Chromosomes shorten and thicken-become visible
- Chromosomes come together in homologous pairs to form bivalent
- Nuclear Envelope breaks up
- Non sister chromatids wrap around each other and attach at points called chiasmata
- Swap sections of chromatids with one another called crossing over
- Centrioles move to opposite poles of the cell to form spindle
