{introduction}To judge whether hospital treatment was rare depends on what we mean by "treatment" and the extent to which it was recived. Treatment such as surgery was rare but general care in hospitals was becoming more and more common.

{1st paragraph-agrees with statement} In many ways, treatment in hospitals was still rare in the Middle Ages thanks to the church. About 30% of hospitals were owned by the church and run by monks and nuns that lived in the nearby monestries. They created a safe space for ill people to recover, keeping the hospital clean and praying for, and with, patients for recovery. This was great as they clean, hygenic enviorment of the hospitals meant that people tended to recover quickly.
