Cancer - localized growth from uncontrolled cell reproduction which can spread, (if untreated) to other parts of the body

Capillary - one of the tiny blood vessels that link the smallest arteries and the smallest veins

Carcinoma - cancer of a surface layer (epithelium), commonly occur in the skin, the breast, the large intestine, the linings of the air tunes, the prostate gland and the uterus

Cartilage - a tough, fibrous connective tissue also known as gristle

Central nervous system - the brain and spinal cord, receives and analyses sensory data and then initiates a repsonse

Cerebellum - region of the brain behind the brain stem is concerned with balance of control and of fine movement

Cerebrum - largest part of the brain made up of two hemispheres, contains nerve centres for thought, personality, the senses and voluntary movement

Cholecystitis - inflammation of gallbladder commonly the result of obstructed outflow of bile due to a gallstone

Chromosomes - thread-like structures present in all nucleated body cells and carry the genetic code for the formation of the body; 46 chromosomes arranged
