Popular and quality newspapers

  • Popular newspapers include: The Sun, The Daily Express, The Daily Mirror etc.
  • They sometimes like to have fun with their headlines, and often seen biased
  • Quality newspapers include: The Guardian, The Times, The Independent etc.
  • They usually have more sober and less humorous headlines, but they are still have biased views
  • Their owners and editors usually dictate the 'policy line' they adopt.

Putting forward a biased view

  • Quality newspapers are more factual than others
  • But both popular and quality newspapers tend to give more emphasis to the side of argument they tend to favour than the other
