Slimplify numbers and leave it in index form:

Example: 

1aQ) 2 to the power of 3 X 2 squared

Step 1 is to keep the number the same. 

Step 2 is to add  the powers together. 

If  a question appears like this a x a to the power of 0 = for example 

how to work it out is like this:

Step one: keep letters the same.

Step two: check if the powers are addable. e.g = 3+2=5
