To do area you have to times the two sides together for example:
Emily has a room that she wants to carpet. To do this she must work out the area of the room. If the room is 10m by 8m how much carpet does she need to buy?
First you take the length of 10m and times it by the width which is 8m. You get 80m squared. Make sure to always put squared when working out area. Then write your answer out in full if it is asking you to: "Emily needs to buy 80m squared of carpet." Or just "80m squared."
