Focuses on consumer choice and competition.
Favoured by the New Right.
David (19.93) describes this as parentocracy. (ie. rule by parents / parents have freedom of choice.)
Marketisation is promoted through several methods:
- League tables and ofsted.
- Business sponsorship of schools.
- Open enrollment to recruit more.
- Formula funding.
- Option to opt out of L.E.A.
- Compete to attract pupils.
