- there are two categories when it comes to manufactured fibres, synthetic and regenerated fibres
- Synthetic: meaning it's purely made out of chemicals, begins with petrol oil. It's made in a process called polymeristation where it's then extruded through a spinneret (similar to a spaghetti making machine). This creates continuous filaments
- the synthetic fibres are those starting with 'poly', e.g. polyester, polyamide, PVC, etc.
- Regenerated: this is called cellulose, it begins…
