China has a population of 1.3 billion people, different policies have been used to control the rapid population groth however nothing has been as sustainable as the one child policy which was established in 1979. 

The policy is that couples are allowed to only have one child, however the are some few exceptions to the policy, such as those who live in rural areas. They may need more than one child to run the family business. or if the first child is a girl, or if the first child is disabled.In some rare cases if one or both parents are disabled, then they are allowed to one more children.
