Suffering from high levels of deforestation caused by 6 main factors:

Mining - Mining is popualr due to large tin export and other resources, large amounts of land cleared for this.

Energy - Hectares of land are flooded, Baku Dam project, for HEP.

Resettlement - High levels of transmigration to relieve pressure on cities. 15,000 hectares of land cleared for resettlement, destroying many habitats.

Logging - Large export of tropical wood. Much land is cleared for this. Selective logging is now occuring to preserve the trees, only fully grown trees are felled.
